On Thursday, 28 July 2005 the 18th Annual Golf Day for Action Medical Research took place at The Belfry, sponsored by the Music Managers Forum.
Jo Hunt, spokesperson for Action Medical Research, says “The Belfry Golf Day is an important date in our fundraising calendar. We are delighted that the Music Managers Forum has been able to support the event this year, and we thank them for helping us to make it such a success.”
Action Medical Research is one of the most forward thinking charities in the country and has a vision for a future without disease and disability, an ideal that can be achieved through funding the very best medical science. With a new name and updated logo this charity that started 53 years ago to combat polio, is taking great steps forward through its support for medical research into a vast range of diseases and problematic conditions.
The Golf Day at The Belfry helped to raise money for the charity and the incredibly important work that it does. Organised by Waterloo Brown on behalf of Action Medical Research, competitors played a four-ball stapleford on the Brabazon (Ryder Cup Course) and later in the day competitors tried out TrueStrike mats and also a range of activities at the Golf Academy.
A celebration dinner was held at the end of the day and featured a silent auction with fantastic prizes donated by national and local companies. These included a signed 18th pin flag from the recent 2005 Open and a signed t-shirt from Sir Steve Redgrave.
All in all a great days golf and fabulous support for Action Medical Research!
